Cycling Without Age: Passenger Perspective – Grace Thomson-Turner

Stockton resident, Grace, was among the first to be taken for a spin around John Whitehead Park when the Cycling Without Age founder Ole Kassow and Pernille Bussone attending the Young At Heart ULO event of Monday 5th February.

Grace, aged 24, has Cerebral Palsy which affects her body movement, muscle control, muscle coordination, muscle tone, reflex, posture and balance. Never one to let that get in her way, Grace quickly jumped on board the trishaw and this is what she said about the experience:

”Today I tried riding in a trishaw as a passenger to support Cycling Without Age. I shared the trishaw with Rory. I thought it was awesome.

We went around Billingham Park – it was brilliant!

I am 24 years old and have cerebral palsy and walk with sticks, so going out on the trishaw was a brilliant experience and would recommend it to anyone.

So, if anyone has any spare money or change, please donate it. We are crowdfunding and need to raise £7,000 before 19th February.”

To bring this brilliant initiative to Stockton on Tees, Hand In Hand Activities CIC and friends are working hard to raise £7,000 to purchase the first trishaw of the fleet. We have a Crowdfunder campaign that is live until February 19th, and are looking to engage with local residents and businesses to help raise funds, as we have corporate sponsorship packages available.
