OVOE: I Am Leanne #BigLF

February 4, 2016 by Alison Watson-Shields

I am Leanne

I wonder if dreams can come true

I hear aimless chatter

I see people rushing around their daily life

I want happiness

I am Leanne

I pretend that I am strong

I feel content

I touch the pillow and long for sleep

I worry all the time

I cry at the drop of a hat

I am Leanne

I understand the importance of family

I say stupid things

I dream about lovely holidays

I try my hardest to lose weight

I hope I can lose weight for my holiday

I am Leanne

I like to lie in on a Sunday morning

I believe in magic

I realise not everyone is nice

I live a good life

I can not sing

I am Leanne

    Hi Leanne

    Hi Leanne,

Thank you for sharing this poem. I’m glad that you believe in magic.

I often work with groups of people and get them to sing (Alison knows me quite well and could tell you more). I have lost count of the number of people who start off by saying – like you – “I cannot sing”. Perhaps because someone once told them they couldn’t, and they have never forgotten this. In almost every case it turns out not to be true. I won’t say absolutely everyone, but nearly everyone can sing a bit, and most people can sing better than they think. I haven’t met you, but I bet you CAN sing, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find that you can sing quite well. That doesn’t mean singing on your own, doing solos, but to be part of a group of people and learning a song together is, for me, one of the best things in life. Give it a go!
