This week at Young At Heart ULO, we had a quiet week as our sessions on Monday didn’t take place due to the Bank Holiday. However, the Thornaby meeting went ahead as usual and the group were kept busy continuing their work on the #Unremembered project.
At the start of our session we ran through the orientation exercises quickly and discussed what we had done over the Bank Holiday weekend – one member had celebrated her 80th birthday!
After this, we prepared the table for painting and handed out the poppies we had made at a previous session. Everyone had at lease 3 poppies to paint but those who were too eager did get more to do.
Once the group had finished painting we discussed a news article that I had heard on the radio driving to the session. A man had broken the record of driving from Lands End to John O’Groats but it involved breaking the speed limit (read the full story here). The ‘controversial’ story didn’t create as much debate as I had expected and the general consensus of the group was “who cares?”.
